It's that time of the year! Time for stuffing ourselves with yummy food to the point where we feel like we're going to explode, colder weather, and being thankful! This year, I am definitely thankful for my family, the opportunities I have, and dance.

The first thing I am thankful for is my family. Without them, I would have no clue where I would be. They have taught me so much about everything; from washing the dishes to lessons that will take me far in life. This may sound cheesy but, when ever I feel down or need a little support they're there for me to help me and encourage me to do the things that may seem hard to do. They teach me that nothing is impossible, you can do whatever you want to do. Not only that, but they provide a roof over my head, clothes to wear, and food to eat.

I'm also thankful for the privelages I have or in other words, the things that I'm involved in. I'm so glad to be part of this class which has given me so many oppurunities. In this class, I have gone to Washington DC, Texas, Los Angeles, and I'm going to Florida in the Spring. I've also had my News Story air on Hiki No, won awards, speak on the Radio,  be featured in Kauai's Shining Stars, and so much more! It's incredible about how many things we are able to do that other classes don't get to do. So I'm very grateful for this class and everything we have done in it.

I have been dancing for about four years now, and I love every second of it! I take basically all types of dances. Dancing teaches me a lot about self discipline and dedication.  If you don't push yourself to be the best that you can be, you're not going to get anywhere or improve which also ties in with life and other situations. It also teaches me about dedication, you need to have confidence in yourself to strive toward a goal that you're trying to achieve. I am very lucky and thankful to be able to take dance classes and learn these things.

I am not only thankful for these things, I'm thankful for so many things in my life. I'm thankful for my family, media, and dance. I don't know what I'd do without them! THANK YOU!

This is my third year in media and when ever we go to STN, we have pen pals all the way from Castaic in California. We get to email our pen pals to get to know them. And when it comes time in March we get to meet them in person and do fun activities together! My pen pal is Mia and we have a lot in common with each other. We usually text and talk about what's going on. I think it's great to have pen pals so we know some people at a giant convention filled with strangers from other middle schools.

In media we learn about lots of media skills and technical things but, we also learn about how to work together as one big team. We practically do everything together, from fun fundraisers and events to stressful times. That's why we are all all apart of the CKTV Ohana. Without everyone, our class wouldn't be the same great class as it already is.

It's important that we all cooperate with each other because we we do lots of things where we need to talk to each other and work together. For example, the morning announcements, we are all part of teams and we all need to work well with our peers to produce a great broadcast in front of the whole school to represent our class and leadership. It is also important at STN to work together. I learned that the hard way in sixth grade when our team didn't meet the deadline. If we go to STN and we are all on separate pages and in our own little worlds, there is a high chance that we will not do well in the competition.

CKTV Ohana also means that we are kind to one another, and respect our differences. We are all special in some way with different traits that go into making this class awesome. That means that there should be no exception of bullying. At the end of the day, nobody is perfect so who are you to judge someone else. When we go on our trip, it will not be fun if there's tension in the air between people who are fighting.

If there is bullying going on, you need to stand up and do something about it. Sometimes, we may tease each other because we think it's funny but, it might not be funny on the other side. Don't be a bystander, help the other person out. Or tell Mr.M if something is going on that needs his attention. If I was being picked on, I would want someone to help me out. What goes around comes around.

In conclusion, our CKTV Ohana is what makes our class awesome. It's important that we all remember that we're all here for each other no matter what. We always need to cooperate with each other, even if it gets rough at times. And there should be absolutely NO bullying. If we respect ourselves and each other our class can go a long ways just by being close and being one big happy family.

iPads are pretty heavy yet they're still very portable. Apple has now created the new iPad Air which only weighs in at one pound! That's 28% lighter than a normal iPad. With a new iPad comes new features such as two antenas which means 2x faster wifi. There's also many other new features with big technological words that nobody really understands. Anyways, there is 10 hours of battery life, and better performance (kind of like a desktop). I think the iPad Air is great, I can't wait to compare it to our iPads to see how light it actually is!

It is almost mid quarter already! Wow! So that means it's time for a project update! My partner Taylynn and I are on the right track for finishing our project on time. We are done filming, we are working on transcribing, and we're almost ready to start working on our script.

We are doing a news story about a Community Garden in Kalihiwai. We filmed during Parent Teacher Conference week when we got out of school at 11:30. We went to the Community Garden, interviewed three people and shot all of our broll. So we are done with a going out and filming for this quarter.

Since we have all of our interviews done, that doesn't mean we get to sit back and cruise. We have to transcribe! I have finished transcribing one interview and Taylynn is almost finished with transcribing another. That leaves us with one more interview to transcribe. According to our planner, we should be done transcribing on the 24th and start our scripts on the 25th. So we are on the right track.

As you can tell by the last paragraph, it's almost time to start our scripts. We need to turn in our scripts before Thanksgiving Break if we want to get feedback and revisions as soon as possible. Taylynn and I are a little ahead of the game, so we have lots of time to start working on our script and finding our 5 best sound bites.

In conclusion, we are on the right track to turning in our project in on time. We are done filming, almost done transcribing, and we should be starting our scripts anytime soon. I hope to turn in as great project this quarter!

On Saturday, the CKTV Class hosted the Street Fair at Chiefess. The Street Fair is when a bunch of different Food Trucks come to our School in our bus drop off area. There's also bingo, games, and a craft fair. The Street Fair is a fundraiser for our class to go to Orlando, Florida which is a long ways away. Unfortunately, the weather was pretty bad. In fact, a giant bolt of lightning stuck across the street from our school. So we had to close down earlier than we hoped to. Anyways, although there was weather issues, we made the most out of the short time working there.

How many times do you watch TV a week? For me, I watch TV about 3-4 times a week. The Average American watches 34 hours of TV per week which seems like a lot. In 15 years from now, I think that number will drop down by a lot. I'm not saying that people will stop watching TV and play outside more but, I think they will rather watch TV or shows on their electronics.

Today, there are many apps where you can watch shows that you may have missed, like abc Player or abc Family. Many people thought that 3D TV's would be apart of the future but, it hasn't been quite the buzz. It's hard to tell how TV's will expand and grow from here.

Many people have everything at the touch of their fingers, they can watch whatever they want when they want. With a normal cable TV, you can only watch what's on the different channels. In the future, I would want TV's to be able to play only the things that you want to watch. For example, I like to watch movies on FX, and Dance Moms. With a Futuristic TV, we would be able to categorize our channels to Comedy, Thriller, or Kids. This way, we can watch the things that we want to watch.

If TV doesn't turn out that way, I think people will see less TV's in homes. This is just because many people would rather watch Netflix or Youtube on their Tablets or Phones. Technology is becoming more on the go and it would be pretty hard to lug a giant TV around with you every where you go.

In conclusion, I think TV's are slowly fading away. It seems pretty hard to picture a houses without TV's in them. But as technology becomes bigger and better there could be a high chance that TV's could be an ancient artifact in 15 years.

STN is right around the corner so, we need to start practicing with our teams. But, of course we need to make some teams and choose which categories we want to be in. I want to compete in the Music Video Category or possibly Spot Feature.

Music video is my first choice because making it sounds really fun. In the Music Video category, you are given a song and you need to create a Music Video in six hours. There will be about six people on our team, actors, filmers, editors, etc. I want to be one of the two editors for this category.

If nobody volunteers to be in Spot Feature, or if the they need a strong team, I will be willing to fall back into that category. To me, spot feature is definitely a difficult category so we would need a dedicated, hard working team to pull it off. None of us have participated in that Category in our class, so we barely know what to expect.

Having the right team at STN is very important. I learned that the hard way in sixth grade when our team didn’t make the deadline because we wouldn’t cooperate. Teamwork is what makes you create a great video in order to place at STN. In a team you need people who will contribute their different skills such as acting, filming, writing, reporting, and editing. If everyone does one thing, the video will fail and won’t turn out good. When I compete, I want to have a good team so I can finish my last year of media with a bang!

I am very excited to compete at STN this year! I hope to compete in the Music Video Category or Spot Feature. Spot Feature is more of a fallback choice if the team needs help. In the end it doesn’t matter what category I compete in but, what team I work with. I am also interested in competing in the Film Category for Sweet 16.

As you already know, this is an Edublogs website. Have been using this website ever since sixth grade when we first got our iPads in media. And I have been able to post blogs, upload pictures, and add links. But, there is another Blog Website called Weebly. So it is our choice if we want to stay on Edublogs or switch to Weebly. I choose to move over to Weebly because it has more options, I can have different pages, pictures, custom themes, videos, and much more. Another positive thing is that it’s really simple to use with easy features. All I need to do, is find the time to finish editing my blog and then I’ll be ready to publish my new Weebly Website. It’ll be goodbye Edublogs! Hello Weebly!

It is now 2nd quarter and it’s back to hard work! My partner Taylynn and I are going to do a News Story about a Community Garden in Kalihiwai. This community Garden allows families or businesses to own a plot and plant whatever they want. By now we are supposed to be doing research, so we emailed a person who is part of the garden to schedule an interview. We are now waiting to see when he is available. We plan to interview the head person/ founder of the Community Garden and also people who own plots. With the mistakes we learned from 1st quarter, we hope to make a great News Story this quarter!
